Synchronous Meeting
Sometime during this course, students and instructor will be web conferencing using Skype/Google Hangout with someone who writes code daily. Using the real-time collaboration tool of a Google Doc, students will be asked to participate in an online brainstorming session to come up with questions for our guest speaker. Students can access this document in their Google Classroom. The instructor will choose which students will ask their questions in the live conference. Ideally, someone on the Scratch Team would be our guest speaker.
Using Twitter, the instructor will search for other instructors that are also using Scratch. Finding another teacher who would be willing to ask their class to participate on our student blogs and/or a web conference could be a global interaction for all students. There would be another synchronous meeting as each class could introduce each other and then share our creations to gain feedback at the end of the course.
